About the book
When she was ten, her single father left the world, leaving her alone. She didn't know what to do with the sadness and loneliness in her heart. " Read my books in my library." said the father gently in a dream. After picking up the first book, she goes on a journey filled with sweet memories and fantastic worlds in each book. Her father's books accompany her to pass through different seasons and gradually comfort her heart.

Why I created My Father's Books
The inspiration of the story was from one of my close friends. Her father had been sick for 7 years and passed away in 2023. She said, from now on she has no one to discuss books with her. She enjoys reading and reads a lot. She told me she would read all her father's books on the shelves. I was touched by her words. Also I am related to her feelings because my mother passed away before I turned thirty. Since then I miss her every day. Hence, I decided to create a book about grief. This is not a book to encourage people to be "positive". I believe that happiness and sadness coexist. It's normal to feel sad and cry. This book is to share our common human feelings. My Father's Books is like a candy from me for you all. I hope you would have some sweetness in your heart after reading it. May our heart be comforted. Hug!

About Yi-Jing, the author and illustrator
I was born and raised in Taiwan. My lovely mother was my first drawing teacher. I attended a special fine art class in my high school. Later, I studied drama and cinema, and film animation at university in both Taiwan and Canada.
The past 24 years I have been living in Montreal, Canada. Being an immigrant in a foreign land has given me an opportunity to experience a wide variety of flavors of life. Gradually I started to understand that kindness and compassion are important and precious. Hence, I would like to use my art works to share our common human feelings and to bring people comfort and sweetness.
